About Change Video Speed
Speeding up plays more of the source per second of output, so the result is shorter; slowing down makes it longer. At 2× a one-minute clip becomes thirty seconds.
Audio comes along with the change. By default the pitch shifts with the speed, the way a tape does - tick Keep audio pitch to hold the original pitch instead, which is what you want for speech.
Note that re-encoding happens in real time, so a slowed-down clip takes longer to process than the original is long.
