Keep Only the First or Last Lines
About Truncate a List
The head and tail of a list, without a terminal. Keeping the first few lines is the usual case - trimming a sample out of a large paste - and keeping the last few is what you want for the end of a log.
Blank lines are ignored by default when counting, so a list with gaps in it still gives you the number of real entries you asked for.
