About Random Port Generator
Ports 0-1023 are the well-known ones and need root to bind on Unix; 1024-49151 are registered to specific services; 49152-65535 are the dynamic or private range, free for anything. This picks from whichever range you choose and skips the ports that common services already claim.
Note that "random and unclaimed by convention" is not the same as "free on this machine right now" - nothing in a browser can check what your operating system has open. Treat the suggestion as a starting point.
